Lead Lineman

Location

Harvey, ND

Responsibilities

We have an immediate opening for a Lead Lineman in Harvey, ND.

Successful applicant will supervise, direct and work with the crew to erect and install, maintain or repair overhead and underground electrical distribution and transmission systems and substations; where necessary, frame and erect poles and attach necessary fixtures and equipment; string, sag and splice conductors (wires) and connect transformer and other equipment; trim trees, replace such equipment as broken insulators, split crossarms, cutouts, ties, faulty clamps or braces; and perform similar replacement or repair work as necessary on routine patrol or to clear up storm damage. Use electrical instruments, operate hydraulic equipment, and work out of an aerial basket.

Qualifications

We have an immediate opening for a Lead Lineman in Harvey, ND.

Must be a Journeyman Lineman with a diploma from an accredited line worker program or have equivalent experience. Must have an unrestricted interstate commercial driver’s license; positive leadership qualities and show an ability to plan, supervise and work with people and tools; an interest in teaching people working on the crew the lineman trade; thorough knowledge of electric line and underground construction, maintenance and repair; be able to work outdoors in any weather, able to climb, understand the mechanical equipment used in the trade, and have the ability to get along well with others. Successful applicant will be expected to reside within 17 miles from permanent headquarters in Harvey, ND.

Plant and Capital Budget Accountant

Fergus Falls, MN

Responsibilities

At Otter Tail Power, our employees help us to serve the communities we support by producing reliable, affordable, and environmentally responsible electricity. In this role, the Plant and Capital Budget Accountant will work with many areas of the organization and be an integral part of developing and implementing the annual capital budget.  

Some examples of those activities will include:

  • Facilitate and monitor the capital budget as construction occurs
  • Assess costs and units of property with jointly owned generation projects
  • Assist in a capital project life cycle from determination if a project is eligible for capitalization, to budget approval, setting up work orders, through proper plant-in-service classification.
  • Develop and monitor internal controls related to the capital expenditures and fuel inventory processes
  • Provide support for internal and external audits and SOX reviews, including the preparation and/or review of supporting documentation
Qualifications

·        A working knowledge of the following will be ideal to maximize this role’s impact and success:

o   Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

o   Experience with capitalization guidance and practices.

o   Understanding of depreciation methods and practices, including accounting for Asset Retirement Obligations.

o   Minimum of three years’ experience with utility operations, fixed asset accounting, or comparable business experience preferred.

o   Professional certification encouraged but not required.

o   Detailed knowledge of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Uniform Systems of Accounts and its application is a plus.

o   Experience with PowerPlan fixed asset software is a plus.

·        To hit the ground running, foundational knowledge via a 4-year degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent experience is required.

Journeyman or Apprentice Service Representative/Lineman

Responsibilities

We have an opening for a Well-Qualified Journeyman or Apprentice Service Representative located in Jamestown, ND.

Qualifications

Applicants must be sufficiently qualified as a Journeyman Lineman or Apprentice Lineman and be able to do necessary emergency repair work. Must have a diploma from an accredited line worker program or equivalent experience. Must have knowledge of electric line construction, maintenance, and repair. Must be able to assume responsibilities for area operations, maintain favorable public relations, and supervise and instruct assistants as necessary. Must have a valid unrestricted interstate commercial driver’s license. Successful applicant will be expected to reside within 25 miles of permanent headquarters in Jamestown, ND.

Serves as the Company representative in the designated group of towns. Installs, removes, or replaces meters in customer establishments. Installs and maintains service lines, receiving customer complaints and performing necessary repair work to overhead distribution or service facilities.
