Responsibilities

We have an immediate opening for a Lead Lineman in Harvey, ND.

Successful applicant will supervise, direct and work with the crew to erect and install, maintain or repair overhead and underground electrical distribution and transmission systems and substations; where necessary, frame and erect poles and attach necessary fixtures and equipment; string, sag and splice conductors (wires) and connect transformer and other equipment; trim trees, replace such equipment as broken insulators, split crossarms, cutouts, ties, faulty clamps or braces; and perform similar replacement or repair work as necessary on routine patrol or to clear up storm damage. Use electrical instruments, operate hydraulic equipment, and work out of an aerial basket.

Qualifications

We have an immediate opening for a Lead Lineman in Harvey, ND.

Must be a Journeyman Lineman with a diploma from an accredited line worker program or have equivalent experience. Must have an unrestricted interstate commercial driver’s license; positive leadership qualities and show an ability to plan, supervise and work with people and tools; an interest in teaching people working on the crew the lineman trade; thorough knowledge of electric line and underground construction, maintenance and repair; be able to work outdoors in any weather, able to climb, understand the mechanical equipment used in the trade, and have the ability to get along well with others. Successful applicant will be expected to reside within 17 miles from permanent headquarters in Harvey, ND.

Maintenance Intern at Big Stone Plant

Otter Tail Power Company is pleased to offer paid craft internship opportunities at the Big Stone Power Plant, located near Big Stone City, South Dakota. This full-time internship is for 12 to 16 weeks during the Summer of 2025. 

Qualifications

DESCRIPTION:  Otter Tail Power Company is currently seeking qualified student applicants to fill one position for Mechanical Maintenance Intern at Big Stone Plant from May through August 2025. 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Looking for students in the energy technology program. The applicant must have proficient computer skills with various software applications in Microsoft such as Word, Excel, and Access. In addition, the applicant must be proficient in the use of Autodesk AutoCad software.

Applicants must be a full-time first year student in a technical college program offering training in these craft disciplines. Candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment aptitude test and a physical examination and background check.

Computer Science Intern

Responsibilities

Otter Tail Power Company is currently seeking a qualified student applicant to fill a Computer Science Intern position from January 2, 2025 to March 31, 2025.

The duties of the intern include:

1.     Work with End User Support team to develop a plan to upgrade remaining Windows 10 notebooks and workstations to Windows 11.

2.     Work with end users to coordinate times when their notebook or workstation can be upgraded.

3.     Perform the upgrade to Windows 11 either through manual remote or physical access to the notebook or workstation.

4.     Ensure Bitlocker is enabled once the upgrade to Windows 11 is complete.

5.     Ensure each notebook or workstation is functioning properly after the upgrade is complete.

6.     Comply with company policies, procedures and external compliance requirements in performing job accountabilities. 

7.     Perform other duties as may be assigned to address company business needs.

The position requires excellent customer service, organizational and written communication skills to work with end users and provide them with excellent service.  Furthermore, the successful candidate will need strong oral communication skills and the ability to work together with people within the company.

Qualifications

Looking for students in the computer science curriculum with excellent customer service, oral and written communication skills.  The applicant must be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Windows for notebooks and workstations. Applicant must also have a strong understanding of the Microsoft Office environment and the ability to troubleshoot issues in the moment.  Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

We’re seeking candidates who have a diploma from an accredited line worker program and a valid, unrestricted interstate commercial driver's license. Candidates must have knowledge of electric line construction, maintenance, and repair, be able to work outdoors in any weather, be able to climb, have complete knowledge of safety rules and can get along well with others.
