We have an immediate opening for a Lead Lineman in Harvey, ND.

Must be a Journeyman Lineman with a diploma from an accredited line worker program or have equivalent experience. Must have an unrestricted interstate commercial driver’s license; positive leadership qualities and show an ability to plan, supervise and work with people and tools; an interest in teaching people working on the crew the lineman trade; thorough knowledge of electric line and underground construction, maintenance and repair; be able to work outdoors in any weather, able to climb, understand the mechanical equipment used in the trade, and have the ability to get along well with others. Successful applicant will be expected to reside within 17 miles from permanent headquarters in Harvey, ND.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and two years of formal technical training in a related technical field, or at least five years documented mechanical maintenance work experience. 

 Must be physically fit, mentally alert, able to work indoors or outdoors in all weather, work in confined spaces and at height, wear a respirator and other PPE, and hold a valid driver’s license.  Most desirable qualifications include proficient in welding, and machine tool techniques; experience troubleshooting and repairing pumps, drives, and other industrial equipment; able to read, understand and interpret technical instruction books and drawings; understand precision alignment and vibration analysis; basic computer skills; and basic knowledge of metallurgy. Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of two years technical school, with a working knowledge of electrical apparatus and schematics. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be physically fit, mentally alert and possess good communication skills. Must be physically able to perform all maintenance duties requiring standing, sitting, crawling, climbing, lifting and work in temperature extremes from below zero to above 100 degrees. Applicant will be required to complete an aptitude inventory.

 Job duties include installing, testing, troubleshooting, calibrating, and repairing power plant electrical equipment. Plant electrical equipment includes motor controls, motors, generators, breakers, protective relays, voltage regulators, programmable controllers, UPS systems, DC distribution systems, portable and stationary tools and equipment, and AC electrical distribution systems to include switchgear, cabling, transformers, distribution panels, and utilization equipment. Must perform assignments safely, using good judgment, with a sense of responsibility and have the ability to work well with others. Applicant will be required to complete an aptitude inventory.

Qualifications

Line Workers’ days vary, and some duties will include maintaining or repairing overhead and underground electrical distribution and transmission systems and substations. They’ll also frame and erect poles and attach necessary fixtures and equipment. They’ll string, sag, and splice conductors (wires) and connect transformers and other equipment, trim trees, replace such equipment as broken insulators, split crossarms, cutouts, ties, faulty clamps or braces, and perform similar replacement or repair work as necessary to clear up storm damage.

We’re seeking candidates who have a diploma from an accredited line worker program and a valid, unrestricted interstate commercial driver's license. Candidates must have knowledge of electric line construction, maintenance, and repair, be able to work outdoors in any weather, be able to climb, have complete knowledge of safety rules and can get along well with others. The selected candidates will be expected to learn to use electrical instruments, to operate hydraulic equipment and to work out of an aerial basket. We also have a comprehensive apprenticeship program designed to develop great journeymen line workers. Any candidate selected will be expected to reside within 25 miles from the headquarters Casselton, ND.
