Use caution and common sense

If you're experiencing an outage, report it online or call 800-257-4044 or 218-739-8877

Please stay safe and as far away as possible from downed power lines or other electrical hazards, and never try to remove a downed line yourself. Immediately contact us or call 911.

Planned outages

We conduct planned power outages when needed to perform necessary system maintenance and upgrades.

Get to know our outage map features

Our outage map provides near real-time information and updates on current outages within our service area. For the best experience, we recommend reviewing the information below and opening the map in a new browser tab or window.

Map key

For questions about the map’s features select the question mark icon and click any item on the map for help. Select the X to return back to the main view.

Learn about the map icons by selecting the icon legend. The icons indicate an outage on the map and show where we’re at in our restoration efforts. See additional details below.

Orange indicates that an outage was reported and we’re assessing the situation.

A number within the icon represents the estimated number of customers without power.


A white border outlines the icon to highlight the outage you’ve selected and are currently viewing.

A lineworker with a hardhat means a crew is assigned to the outage.

Red indicates that crews have arrived and confirmed that customers are without power.

The blue restored icon isn't an active feature on our map and can be disregarded. 

 View current power outages and a 48-hour outage history in the summary tab. Dive deeper into the outage you’ve selected by visiting the Outage or County tabs. 

 Change your map view to topography, satellite, or night and add a live weather radar layer in the layers tab. 

 Select the weather tab to view current weather conditions for the selected location.

What to do during an outage

It doesn't happen often, but if the power goes out:

  1. Check your service panel. Make sure you haven't blown a fuse or tripped a circuit breaker.
  2. Call us. Report the outage to us 24/7 at 800-257-4044 or 218-739-8877. This helps our crews find the issue and restore power more quickly.
    If you’re calling from a phone number associated with your electric account, our updated system will quickly match you to your account(s) and prompt you to report an outage. If you’re calling from a number that isn’t associated with your account(s), be sure to have your account number handy as you’ll need it to report your outage. You can find your account number on any of your bills or within My Account. Can’t find your account number? You’ll be automatically directed to our Customer Service team. We're happy to help. 
  3. Turn off or unplug appliances. This will help avoid possible damage when power is restored. 

If you're experiencing an emergency, call 911.

While we're working to restore your service:

  • Do not wire an emergency generator into your home electrical system. Backfeed into power lines could injure or kill a lineman working to restore electricity.
  • Use your generator only to run specific appliances.
  • Locate your generator outside to keep poisonous carbon monoxide fumes out of your home.
  • Use a cell phone or plug a telephone that has a cord into a phone jack so you have phone service. (Cordless phones don't work during a power outage.)
  • Leave a light or radio on to let you know when you have service again.
  • Be sure you understand service disconnection and restoration as they relate to natural disasters or identified hazards.
