Applying for a rebate

Thank you for participating in one of our rebate programs! In addition to your rebate, your new equipment or program should help you save energy and lower your electric bill as well.

Before you begin your application, make sure you have your Otter Tail Power Company account number (found on your energy bill). You'll also need your receipt or invoice to verify purchase.

Rebate requirements

To apply for a rebate, you'll need to submit detailed receipts, documentation of installed equipment, and a signed Customer Rebate Application (or other required rebate forms).

• Receipts must include equipment specifications, manufacturers, and model numbers.
• Bids and quotes aren't acceptable proof of purchase.
• Documentation for cold-climate heat pump rebates must clearly indicate ducted or ductless design and HSPF or HSPF2 and other required ratings.
• Acceptable proof of equipment-efficiency ratings includes AHRI certificates (found at ahridirectory.org) or manufacturer specification sheets with proof of efficiency levels, or ENERGY STAR® ratings for models installed.
• Any other documentation of equipment efficiency must receive prior approval.
• Include a signed Rebate application form if you're requesting an electric-heating technology rebate. Electric vehicle charging and appliance rebate forms are available below.
• Some programs have additional guidelines and documentation requirements.
• All documentation is needed with the initial form submission to avoid delays in processing or disqualification.

Please note:

• Energy control projects in which rebates may total $10,000 or more require preapproval and may be evaluated for a custom rebate amount to ensure project demand response value and a payback period of no less than one year. For large projects you must provide project cost details, including alternative equipment under consideration and timeline for project completion for evaluation purposes.
• Rebates will not exceed 75% of project cost. Geothermal heat pump rebates will not exceed 50% of project cost.
• Allow eight weeks for rebates to process.
• Rebate and incentive programs are subject to funding limitations and may change without notice.
