Opportunity for certified HVAC installers

Put your training and expertise to work to get greater value for your customers. Contractors who participate in our Quality Installation program can save customers money and promote their services throughout our service area. Contractors who provide us with their certifications are eligible.

Benefits for your customers

A customer who uses a contractor participating in our Quality Installation program will receive an additional $200-per-ton rebate on a heat pump installation and a $50-per-unit rebate on an ENERGY STAR® air-conditioner installation.

Benefits for your business

We’ll include your business and certifications within our Find a contractor tool, which makes that information available to customers searching for contractors to complete electric-technology projects.

How to participate as a certified contractor

To qualify as a certified contractor, complete one of the following certifications or training programs and provide us with the necessary documentation.

• North American Technician Excellence (NATE) certification
  • Complete the online or in-person course.
  • Visit NATE for more information.
• Minnesota Air Source Heat Pump Collaborative certification
  • Complete the online or in-person training.
  • Visit Minnesota Air Source Heat Pump Collaborative for more information.
• Manufacturer- or distributor-sponsored heat pump installation training program.
  
• Certification from a similar program that expands knowledge on the latest heat pump technology and installation or operation best practices.

Review your Find a contractor listing

Check out your listing within our Find a contractor tool by entering your business's zip code and service type. We include contractors listed as installers for rebate-eligible projects during the last 18 months.

• You want to change your information, add your website address, or list certifications.
• Your business isn’t listed, but you’ve submitted a rebate for a customer within the last 18 months.
• You’d prefer to remove your listing.

Customers may stack our heat pump rebates to maximize the amount received

Example 1: A Minnesota customer selects a 3-ton ducted cold-climate heat pump (CCHP) installed by a certified contractor on an off-peak rate.

A residential customer may also receive a tax credit up to $2,000!

Example 2: A Minnesota customer selects a 5-ton geothermal heat pump (GHP) unit with a desuperheater installed by a certified contractor on an off-peak rate.
