Our Deferred Load Rate is designed for thermal-storage heating or cooling technologies that charge during off-peak hours, storing heating or cooling energy for later use.

We use radio technology for energy control during peak conditions, maintenance, or system emergencies—helping us both manage the electrical load and provide lower energy prices.

Note: Water heaters, air-source heat pumps (including cold-climate heat pumps), and Level 2 electric vehicle chargers can be added to our Deferred Load Rate if a storage heating system is also installed.

Eligibility and details

To be eligible for our Deferred Load Rate, you must have an approved, permanently connected thermal-storage system, such as underfloor storage heating or a central storage furnace. Rebates are available on new system installations! 

Systems may be controlled up to 14 hours a day, as measured from midnight to midnight. An optional rate allows for qualified summer-season loads, such as heat pumps, to be cycled 15 minutes on/15 minutes off only during control periods to ensure your space stays cool.
