Compact Fluorescent Bulbs

Disposing of CFL bulbs

Although it's tempting, don't toss your burned-out fluorescent bulb or lamp in the trash. Instead, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) asks for these bulbs to be taken to a local recycling center.

Compact fluorescent bulbs contain mercury. If a fluorescent bulb breaks, follow the EPA’s recommendations for cleanup and disposal.
